Stripe Fee Calculator

Get paid what you asked for.

To cover Stripe fees, charge (target + fixed fee) / (1 - percent fee). At Stripe's common 2.9% + 30c, receiving €100 net means charging about €103.30, so the €3.30 fee comes out of the customer's payment, not your margin. Change the percent or fixed fee to match your region or card type.

Why it matters

If you invoice €1,000, Stripe keeps €32. You end up with €968. Stop eating the cost. Calculate the exact gross amount to ensure your net is exactly what you need.

How it's calculated

To hit a target net deposit, invert the fee:

  • Charge = (target + fixed fee) / (1 - percent fee / 100)
  • Fee = charge - target

Questions people ask

How do I calculate Stripe fees?

Multiply the charge by the percentage fee, then add the fixed fee. At 2.9% + 0.30, a €100 charge costs 100 x 0.029 + 0.30 = €3.20, leaving €96.80. To instead hit a target net amount, invert it: charge = (target + fixed fee) / (1 - percent fee / 100).

Can I pass Stripe fees to my customer?

Yes. Add the fee to the price so the customer covers it. Because the fee applies to the higher amount too, you cannot just add 2.9% and 30 cents; you gross up with charge = (target + fixed fee) / (1 - percent fee / 100). Some regions restrict surcharging card payments, so check local rules first.

What is Stripe's fee?

For online card payments Stripe commonly charges 2.9% plus 30 cents per successful transaction, though the exact percentage and fixed amount vary by country, currency, and payment method. This tool defaults to 2.9% + 0.30 and lets you change both to match your account.
