How it works

Every otherwise-empty line gets an invisible Braille-blank character (U+2800). It renders as nothing but still counts as text, so the app keeps the line instead of collapsing it. Your visible words stay exactly as you typed them.

Why do my Instagram line breaks disappear?

Instagram, TikTok and similar apps trim lines that hold only whitespace when they render a caption or comment, so your blank lines collapse and the text bunches together. Putting a character on each empty line makes the line non-empty, so the app keeps it and your spacing survives the post.

Is this against Instagram's rules?

No. This is standard Unicode spacing. The invisible character is a normal, publicly documented character, not a hack, a bot, or anything automated or deceptive. You are only adding a blank character to your own caption, which apps handle the same as any other text you type.
