Meeting Cost Calculator

Time is money. Watch it burn.

A meeting costs the number of attendees times their average hourly cost times the meeting length in hours. Six people at €60 an hour for 30 minutes costs €180. This calculator runs that math live: it burns the cost onto the screen second by second while the meeting is still going, so everyone in the room can watch the number climb.

How it's calculated

One line, however you slice the time:

  • Cost = attendees x avg hourly cost x duration (hours)
  • Cost per second = attendees x avg hourly cost / 3,600
  • Hourly cost = annual salary / 2,080

The live ticker uses the cost-per-second figure and adds it to the running total ten times a second, so the number you see is the meeting cost at that exact moment.

Worked examples

Attendees Avg hourly cost Duration Total cost
4 €60.00 30 min €120.00
6 €75.00 1 hour €450.00
10 €90.00 90 min €1,350.00

How it works

Enter Number of Attendees.

Enter Avg Hourly Salary.

Why it matters

Most meetings are expensive habits disguised as work.

Put this on the screen. Watch the number go up. If the meeting isn't creating more value than the number on the screen, end it.

Questions people ask

How much does a meeting cost?

It depends on who is in the room and how long they stay. Multiply the number of attendees by their average hourly cost, then by the meeting length in hours. A one-hour meeting with six people at €75 an hour costs €450. Add benefits, tax, and overhead and the real number is usually higher than the raw salary math suggests.

How do you calculate the cost of a meeting?

Cost = attendees x average hourly cost x duration in hours. To get the hourly cost from an annual salary, divide the salary by about 2,080 (roughly 40 hours a week for 52 weeks), so a €124,800 salary works out to €60 an hour. Four people at that rate for 30 minutes costs €120.

Are recurring meetings worth it?

A weekly meeting is not one cost, it is that cost 52 times a year. A one-hour weekly sync with six people at €75 an hour burns €450 a week, which is €23,400 a year. Before you keep a recurring meeting on the calendar, check that it produces more value than that annual number, and shorten or cancel it if it does not.
