Rotate PDF

Turn sideways PDF pages upright.

Open a PDF, choose a quarter or half turn, and download the pages the right way up. Rotate the whole file or just the pages you name. The turn changes each page's orientation and leaves the text and images untouched. Everything runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded, unlike tools such as iLovePDF or Smallpdf.

How it works

A PDF page carries a rotation flag that tells a reader which edge is the top. This tool reads your file, adds your chosen turn to that flag on the pages you pick with pdf-lib, and hands back the corrected PDF as a download. It never redraws the page, so the edit is structural and lossless: the words stay selectable and the images keep their resolution, and nothing leaves your device.

Controls

Control What it does
Rotate right 90° Quarter turn clockwise, for a page that is lying on its left edge
Rotate 180° Half turn, for a page that is printed upside down
Rotate left 90° Quarter turn counter-clockwise, for a page lying on its right edge
Pages Blank turns every page; 2, 4-6 turns only those pages

Questions people ask

How do I rotate a PDF without uploading it?

Add your PDF, pick a quarter turn or a half turn, leave the pages box blank for the whole file or list the pages you want, then click Rotate. The corrected PDF downloads from your own device. Nothing is uploaded, so unlike iLovePDF or Smallpdf it works with the network off and your file never reaches a server.

Does rotating a PDF lower its quality?

No. Rotating only changes a page's orientation flag, the number that tells a reader which way is up. The text, fonts and images are left exactly as they were, so nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. Save the file and it opens the right way up in any viewer with no visible loss.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes. Leave the pages box empty to turn every page the same way, or type the pages you want, like 2, 4-6. Only those pages are rotated and the rest keep their current orientation. That is handy when one scanned page came in sideways but the others are already upright.
